The drive to Sunderland went quite smoothly. It took me about 7 hours with a couple of lengthy stops and a small detour through Bedale (thanks to the kind lady that gave me the directions I need to find the A1M again).
The Marriot hotel in Sunderland was very nice indeed. The surroundings were a little bleak but this probably wasn't helped by the weather, which ever since the Watford gap had been solid cloud. I'm sure there was a sun up there somewhere but I didn't get to see it. A king size bed suited me just fine though and the meal was very good fayre indeed.
Hopefully the rest of the week will go as smoothly.
